Good day fellow members and friends of Harmony United Church:
It is a good thing that the Church is not a building. Of course, the Bible tells us how important it is to gather together and we all look forward to returning to church again as soon and safely as we can. But, even when we haven’t been able to come to church, God has used this time to bring us together as the Church in love and service toward one another and our community.
We are all looking forward to the day the building doors are open once again, but that time isn’t now. Our church will not reopen yet but here’s what we are doing.
We have assembled a team of people from our church to help us monitor the COVID-19 situation in our area and guide us in making a wise, safe reopening plan when the time is right.
We will keep in touch with other churches in the area, including those who have reopened their buildings and learned a few lessons along the way.
We will continue to participate in the LIVESTREAM from Trinity, Coffee-Drop In on Wednesday mornings, and phone calls to those who are housebound.
As we meet with our reopening task force and stay on top of TBPHU recommendations, the health and safety of our congregation is at the forefront of your minds. This is some of the criteria that guides our decision.
We need to see continued decline of cases
We need to obtain safety items and have a plan in place for safe entry and exit.
We need to determine who can assist with leading services… as there are now 4 United churches in town without ministers the available Lay Leaders will be in huge demand.
We will determine the best way to use our resources (financial and people).
Until our criteria is met, we’ll continue with our online services and virtual ministry. Please continue to check your email for updates.
At Harmony United, we are a family that can make it through anything together because the God of hope guides us through uncertainty. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you need anything.
